The Leica M7 is a 35mm film rangefinder camera introduced in 2002. It is part of the Leica M-series rangefinder camera system originating with the Leica M3.

The first M camera to have an electronically controlled shutter which offers aperture priority semi-automatic exposure in addition to manual exposure.

There are versions with 0.58×, 0.72×, or 0.85× viewfinder magnifications.

Shutter

Electronically controlled horizontal travel with cloth curtains. Provided with two mechanically controlled speeds (1/60s and 1/125s) in case of battery failure.

Flash

TTL flash measurement possible with SCA connector. Normal synchronisation 1/50s, high speed flash synchronisation with suitable flash unit at any shutter speed.
