The DiMAGE X50 is a digital ultra compact camera from Konica Minolta introduced in 2004. It is part of the X series of digital cameras that features a folding optical path. This series of cameras started with the Minolta DiMAGE X in 2002. This camera was also sold by Sanyo as the Xacti VPC-A5.
It uses a Konica Minolta 5.7-17.1mm f/2.8 to f/5.0 lens with 2.8x zoom, that has a equivalent to a 37-105mm on 35mm. Digital 4x zoom is also available and can be disabled in the settings. The lens is protected by a sliding barrier that also acts as the power switch. The shutter speeds from 4 seconds to 1/1,000. The imaging sensor is based on a 5 megapixel CCD sensor. Images are captured with a maximum resolution of 2,560 x 1,920 in JPEG with fine, standard, or economy compression. Images are composed with either a optical viewfinder or the 2 inch color TFT LCD display. Images are stored on a SD/MMC memory card with 16MB card usually included. Power is with a NP-700 rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
