Konica C35

The Konica C35 is a 35mm camera that was the first (1968) of a wave of small compact cameras that swept the marketplace in the late sixties and early seventies. Others of similar size and specification soon emerged, of which the Olympus 35RC was the most successful. Others that also did well were the Fujica GER, Minolta Hi-Matic F, Ricoh 500 G/GX.

Four Konica Models

It could be said that Konishiroku was a follower of fashion and that it merely took up the baton of the earlier 60s Minoltina and Olympus Trip 35. Every model in the Konica C35 series has a coupled rangefinder, a programmed shutter, a CdS cell mounted in the lens housing and measures around 115mm wide by 80mm wide. There is much talk about all, or some, of them of them being manufactured by Cosina. Certainly there are great similarities.

However it was Konishiroku that first achieved a compact, light, simple to use camera. It was an oustanding sales success throughout the world.

There are four variants: Konica C35, Konica C35V and the later Konica C35 Automatic.
