The Retina Ia was a [[folding camera]] for 35mm film made by the German [[Kodak AG]]. It was introduced in 1951 as new version of the Retina I. Its new feature was the rapid winding lever. The cameras of the Retina I series had an optical direct-vision viewfinder showing more than the actual image. A brilliant frame with parallax marks inside the finder outlined the image area. Another feature of these cameras were the cross-coupled shutter speed and aperture selectors. In coupled mode a faster speed did open lens aperture. The Retina Ia was the intermediate model before the redesigned model Ib was released in 1954.
