The Improved Seneca View is a large format view camera, made by Seneca from 1904-25.[1] It is made from mahogany (McKeown states that it has a cherrywood base[1]) with nickel-plated fittings. Focusing is achieved by separate rack-andpinion gearing for the front standard and the camera back. The position locking screws are 'piggybacked' onto the positioning wheels. The base can be extended (the extension is folded under in the picture) for close-up photography or to use very long lenses.
