Overview

The Ernemann Heag IV was made since 1900.

In the beginning, c.1900-c.1910, the Heag IV was designed to be wooden body and bed horizontally-styled camera. That first design was made in 9x12 sizes (listed in the Stöckig's catalogues as Union XXI). From c.1906 the 6.5x9 format was also added. The earlier stereo version (1904-c.1908) was in 9x18 format only and appeared in the Stöckig's catalogues as Union XXX.

Long later (1925-1926) the camera was fully re-designed as metal body, vertically-styled camera with leatherette covering. From many points of view it was very similar to the re-designed Heag III, but with radial-lever focusing and horizontal/vertical lens shift. That second design was produced in 6.5x9, 9x12. Interesting enough, the re-designed Heag IV Stereo version was on the market way before the standard one, from c.1908-1918 in 9x18 format only.
