History

Certo was a German maker based in Dresden that made mainly medium-priced folders before World War II. It was quite comparable to Welta and Balda.

After the war, it remained in activity in East Germany and produced cameras quite similar to the pre-war designs until the 1970s, being one of the last independent East German camera makers. It ended as a part of the VEB Pentacon conglomerate.
