In 1947, Argus attempted to introduce a higher-spec alternative to their focusing Argoflex models. The new body was a metal casting and styled by GM automotive designer Harley Earl. Unfortunately the automatic film advance mechanism proved so unreliable that essentially all the cameras were recalled to the factory. The Argoflex II was discontinued in 1948, although the styling of the body re-emerged in the Argoflex EM and Argoflex EF.
