Lens coating

A lens coating applied to the front element of a lens helps to correct color abnormalities in the glass, reduce flare, improve contrast, and protect exposed glass surfaces.

Multicoating refers to the application of more than one coating on a lens.

All modern, mainstream lenses are coated.
