Walter Zapp

Walter Zapp ( born Sept 6th 1905 in Riga , died June 17th 2003 ) was one of the pioneers of photography. He was the inventor and constructor of the legendary Minox subminiature camera. In 1934 he developed this smallest industrially produced film camera. In Zapp's lifetime nearly one million of these cameras were sold. In 2001 he got the honorary doctorate of the University of Riga, and he was decorated with the honorary cross of the Latvian Republic.
