Welcome to Camera-Wiki.org!

Thanks for creating an account here on Camera-Wiki.org! We appreciate your willingness to help us create the most comprehensive camera and photography encyclopedia on the web. Camera-Wiki.org is a big website, so we'd like to offer a few quick pointers to help get you started.

You also have a profile page that you can edit to tell us more about yourself if you'd like. It's purely optional but it's always nice to get to know another camera lover.

This website uses software called Mediawiki that's also used by WikiPedia. If you already know how to use and edit WikiPedia, you'll feel right at home here. If not, we have special page where you can learn to edit, called the Sandbox. It's a place where you try things out and experiment with no worries of breaking anything.

Thank you Hans, a big handshake to you too! yes I'm a human not a machine! I've begun moving into camera-wiki pages some weeks ago when I was looking for infos about 12x9 to 6x9 rollfilm adapters for a 12x9 camera I bought recently. I discovered a very good Pedia for camera collectors like me. As I only collect made-in-italy cameras I started looking to pages concerning italian manufacturers and cameras and I found that something should be improved and something else should be added. Italian camera production knowledge, especially for the 1930-1950 period is a bit erratic and there's not a good historical study approach into it, for example none has ever looked at the chambers of commerce (boards of trades) historical archives which should have useful infos about manufacturers. The result is that at this stage we still have some big missing points to camera production in Italy; we have a couple of good publications indeed: the Malavolti books about Bencini, Officine Galileo, Murer, Ferrania and all the italian production; the very good Antonetto's book about Rectaflex, and a very nice website which begins to gather a huge amount of information, that is the Consonni's bencinistory.altervista.org... but there's always something missing, that is the pre-WWII and post-WWII periods with some unknown cameras still popping up on local sell-and-buy websites on ebay auctions! Anyway, here's a bit more about me: I started collecting cameras on october 2012 and immediately decided to focus into italian production just because I thought that I don't need to look far for Leicas or Rolleis to have quality cameras but that there was a good fertile factory reality just in my country that lasted until the '80s when it was blew by the japanese and taiwanese production. Up to now my collections is composed of 135 cameras and some original accessories. I also decided to narrow my searching field to 135 and 120 rolltype mounting cameras, just because I don't have such a huge amount to money to spend and because those rolls are still in commerce at a reasonable price so that I can use the cameras and shot some pictures with them... that's exciting! Well... that's all for mow... I hope I'll have some time to spend editing my User page! Ciao Roberto

Hello Roberto,
Ah, it is good that you specialize in collecting Italian cameras !
Your observation is right. Camera-Wiki would really benefit with more information about those cameras.
We really lack details and especially images. Thanks for helping us out in that field !
