Michael Wescott "Wes" loder has been a serious and sometime-professional photographer since 1967. He served from 1967 to 1971 as a photographic services officer in the United States Air Force. He studied photography at the University of Texas and the Rochester Institute of Technology and holds a masters in photojournalism from the University of Oregon. He has taught photography, been a camera salesman and freelanced in Colorado, Oregon and Texas. He also served as a press photographer for the Daily Emerald in Eugene, Oregon. Wes has used Nikon rangefinder and reflex cameras since 1968. He has conducted extensive research on the history of the Nikon Company. His book on the early years of the Nikon camera, "The Nikon Camera in America, 1946-1953" was published in 2008 by McFarland Press and is in print. In addition, he has written articles for the Nikon Journal that cover a wide range of topics, including early Nikon binoculars, Nikkor lenses and early cameras and cases.
