Tropica
ICA Tropica cameras, 9x12, 10x15 and 13x18cm image by Ron (Netherlands) (Image rights) |
The Tropica is a double-extension folding plate camera made by ICA for 9x12, 10x15 and 13x18cm plates. The model was continued by Zeiss Ikon after their merger in 1926.[1] McKeown notes that the Tropica was the second most expensive camera in the Zeiss Ikon catalogue in 1930.
The camera is made from teak, with the corners held by nickel-plated brass corners, without glue. It has a rotating back (to allow vertical and horizontal exposures). Various lenses were available, always in a Compur shutter. The front standard allows rise and cross movements. Some tilt is possible, by dropping the bed below the horizontal.
