The Travelwide is a small and lightweight 4x5-inch camera body by Wanderlust Cameras. It is a uni-body based design using ABS plastic. There are three accessory shoes along the top for mounting levels, finders or other accessories. A focusing screen is provided. The left and right sides of the body has vertical channels to insert and run a cable release cord. The camera system includes a Pinwide 0.3175mm pinhole lens. The body is designed to use the Schneider-Kreuznach Angulon 90mm ƒ/6.8 lens (available separately), but it also compatible with various 90mm large-format lenses that use the Copal or Compur #0 shutter. It is incompatible with Copal #00 shutter variations. Faster 90mm f/5.6 lenses are incompatible. The lenses are mounted on a focusing helical, and can focus as close as 0.55 meters. A 65mm Conversion Kit allows you to mount a 65mm f/8 Super Angulon (Copal #00). This requires removing the focusing grip/helical, because of this it's now a fixed focus design and requires using hyperfocal distance focusing. For film, it uses standard 4x5 film holders (Fidelity, Lisco, Riteway) and can also accommodate a Polaroid 545i instant film holder. The older Polaroid 545 holders are incompatible. A tripod bushing is also furnished in the centre base of the unit.

The camera was funded via a Kickstarter project. The project was launched in April 02, 2013. Funding was met after eleven days. At the end of the funding period (May 02, 2013) $128,685 was raised surpassing the original goal of $85,000. Production of the camera was met with many delays. The initial early batch was available in August 2015 for a local US 'pick up party' in which 16 cameras were distributed. Scheduled pickups were also available. Reward units began preping and started shipping in October 3rd for non-USA backers and October 26, 2015 for US-destined cameras.
