Sollinette (folding) models

Just to clarify matters.

According to the German book "Agfa geschichte eines deutschen weltunternehmens von 1867 bis 1997" there are 2 main models, Solinette and Sollinette II. Every main model has 4 sub models, depending on shutter/lens combinations. So there are 8 different models of the folding Solinette.

According to the book the 2 main models only differed in details.

That's interesting news. Thanks for sharing.

I've trawled the internet looking for information, and can find nothing solid; just rumours there was a Solinette/Solinette I. In such circumstances, I normally search for instruction manuals and look at photos. The only manual I can find is for the Solinette II, and this specifically states the Apotar/Prontor SV spec., with no caveats. All the pictures I've seen are of Solinette IIs, and I've found 3 variations of the II (Apotar/SV, Apotar/SVS, Silonar/Compur).

If there were 4 sub models, what would the missing combination be? If there are 2 lenses, and 3 shutters used, then the number of possible combinations is 6. I guess if you don't combine the lowest spec., with the highest (i.e. Solinar/SV and Apotar/Compur), then that gives 4 options?

Sadly, books often have errors, and it seems unlikely that 5 out of 8 cameras are missing?

I am trying to find logical solutions: often a mistake because manufactures were often not logical.

John, I'm at work now, will have a look in that book in the evening again and list the different models here.
The book I mentioned has the most complete listing of Agfa cameras that I ever have seen.

Cool. I appreciate it. Mysteries need to be solved!--Johnbear (talk) 08:14, 18 May 2016 (CDT)

Ok, here goes, From the German book "Agfa Geschichte eines deutschen Weltunternehmens von 1867 bis 1997"
Page 205 and 206

Agfa Nr Name in book Lens Shutter Remarks
2030/230 Solinette Compur RMXV Solinar 3.5/50 Compur RMXV Guess the R in RMVX means Rapid
2030/216 Solinette Prontor SV Apotar 3.5/50 Prontor SV
2030/235 Solinette Prontor SVS Apotar 3.5/50 Prontor SVS
2030/214 Solinette Compur RMX Solinar 3.5/45 Synchro-Compur
2101/337 Solinette USA Color Apotar 3.5/45 Prontor SVS Exportmodel for USA
2031/216 Solinette II Solinar Solinar 3.5/50 Synchro-Compur
2031/235 Solinette II Prontor SVS Solinar 3.5/50 Prontor-SVS
2030/216 Solinette II Apotar Apotar 3.5/50 Prontor SV

So 5 sub-types of the Solinette and 3 sub-types of the Solinette II

Intriguing are the 2 types with 45mm lenses. Guess the formulae is probably the same, just another name. Hope we discover actual samples.

Also note that Nr.2030/216 appears twice in this listing ! Error in the book or just the same camera with another name ??
