What's the original release date for the "Olympus Superzoom 800"? This page says "1996", other sources "1998" (such as collection-appareils.fr). What's the right one? --Ivanbranco (talk) 22:07, 3 December 2022 (UTC)

I did some research and probably 1996 is the wrong one. According to the japanese website olyphotoclub the japanese version of it (オリンパス OZ 80 ZOOM - which differs only in the addition of panorama mode) was released in January 1997. So maybe 1997 is the japanese release date and 1998 the release date for abroad countries. --Ivanbranco (talk) 22:43, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
Always hard to be precise but the 1996 matches ESIF which I've always found to be one of the most accurate Olympus historical sites for less classic cameras. That said we all goof on web blogs and sites (Sylvain has done that a few times IMHO)--Bigalid (talk) 22:50, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
Let's say that 1996 is correct for "Olympus Superzoom 800" and January 1997 is correct for the "OZ 80 ZOOM": this would mean they released it abroad before and then in Japan with the addiction of the panorama mode (this would make sense because otherwise it would mean they released a "downgraded" version abroad). Is this possible? I don't know much about Olympus, I thought every product was released in Japan before. Are there other similar cases? (questions not directed to you in particular but to anyone who can answer) --Ivanbranco (talk) 00:16, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
