I've merged the info and useful images from the Brownie Flash page into this one now, should probably clear that page and redirect to this one now? --Morinaka 15:17, 30 November 2011 (PST)

I decided to clear the Brownie Flash page and have it redirect here. I added the line about the shutter speed as it seems to be genuinely unknown and people who have measured it say there are minor variations between cameras in the speed but it always seems to be between 1/30th and 1/50th I wasn't sure if all the extra information was appropriate for a wiki article but i put it in anyway as it's useful when looking for information on the camera, and information i'd want to see when looking at a wiki article for a camera. --Morinaka 06:26, 1 December 2011 (PST)

Variations

I just wanted to start some talk going to figure out a couple things. I have an early version of the Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash, from January 1952, (YCRA), that has the metal winding knob. Then I have a version from 06/53, (YORM), that has the plastic winding knob. So, sometime between January 1952 and mid-1953, they switched to the plastic winding knob. Can anybody check the date on their model(s) to see if this can be narrowed down to an exact time period?

Also, the newest one I have is dated 12/57, (CARS), and it has a plastic lens instead of glass. While the one I have dated 12/56, (CARO), has a glass lens. That looks like sometime in 1957 Kodak switched to using a plastic lens instead of glass. Can anybody check their's and see when the glass lens was discontinued? Flash Bulb Type

Does anybody know what type of flash bulbs the flash holders for these cameras used? I remember they used to be big, over an inch in roundness and smelled like burnt syrup when you used one. I miss that smell. HaarFager (talk) 10:16, 25 December 2017 (CST)
