Diaphragm scales

"The lens has [...] two diaphragm scales, one visible from the top and the other only seen from the bottom of the lens."

This is because the lens rotates during focusing. There are two diaphragm scales so that there is always one at least partially visible from above. In some focusing positions, the two scales are to the left and to the right. --Rebollo fr 06:15, 11 June 2006 (EDT)

PS: I just noticed that it was not the case in the Sonnar of the Contax II. There is only one scale, and it needs to turn the camera upside down to set the aperture at some focusing positions. --Rebollo fr 06:19, 11 June 2006 (EDT)

Export quality?

We read: Note that the coldshoe proudly states : "sdelano b SSSR"; made in the USSR. This means they were considered to be of export quality.

Is this actually true? I don't know, but I'd have guessed that it means instead that the camera was not for export (that if it were for export, it would say "Made in the USSR"). But that's only a guess. I wonder what Princelle says. (I don't have his book.) Hoary 19:22, 11 June 2006 (EDT)

I changed the text to "might mean that the were considered export quality. I know for a fact that they were exported to the Eastern European block. This particular camera is from Slovakia. Export to these countries does not require an English text. Driesvandenelzen1, june 12 2006

Merge this article???

Should this be merged with the KIEV rangefinder camera article ? Or do we keep separate articles per camera as well? Titrisol (talk) 12:43, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

This page was created back in 2006, it was probably the only Kiev model listed then. Yes, it makes sense to merge it into the Kiev rangefinder page. Geoff H (talk) 11:15, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
