We need someone to confirm what the differences are between the 7 and the 7S. Also, the original article text about how the metering works doesn't quite sound like what the 7S manual (now linked from the article) says. Help?--Vox 12:33, 7 November 2011 (PST)

I no longer have them but I've own both before. I have no idea what the difference is. They look and operate the same AFAICS.Tkmedia 13:41, 7 November 2011 (PST)

I just looked at a Polaroid 300, and it seemed that the blinking red LEDs only indicated the flash was charging. After that, the green LED lit up—but not at a different position based on the light levels. The exposure dial seemed to change apertures mechanically with no autoexposure metering taking place.--Vox 19:53, 7 November 2011 (PST)
The manuals in japanese are linked below. My Japanese reading skills are terrible. But it does seem to indicate a difference. page two is different on the bottom sections. It does seem to mention moving the dial to the led light. maybe my bad japanese is reading it wrong...

Aha, yes I had already noticed that there was a change in the exposure dial between the two models. So maybe they also removed the light meter function in the 7s?
What I've noticed so far is: Instax Mini 7 is labeled that way on the front of the camera; and the exposure icons are printed onto the stationary black ring around the exposure dial. Instax Mini 7S is labeled that way on the top of the camera, and the exposure icons are printed onto the rotating dial. --Vox 09:05, 8 November 2011 (PST)
Based on my understanding of the manuals, the Instax Mini 7 works as described in the text. A single blinking red light indicates the suggested position of the exposure dial. This is different from the flash charging indication (the three red lights blinking in a sequence repetitively) or the low battery indication (all three red lights blinking at the same time). The red light goes off when the exposure dial is moved to the correct position, leaving only the green light on, indicating a correct exposure setting. The Instax Mini 7s, on the other hand, doesn't have such metering function. The red lights on the 7s only serve as flash charging indicator (blinking in sequence) and low battery indicator (blinking at the same time), and the green light serves as "flash ready" signal as well as the marker for the exposure dial. --xjx1998 01:26am, 9 November 2011 (PST)
Thanks for the help! I have changed the text as far as I understand the differences, but someone who has one of these cameras in their hands should feel free to adjust as needed. --Vox 08:29, 9 November 2011 (PST)
I may be able to handle the Cheki 7 again in the near future. I gave the camera away to my sister a number of years ago before the release of the 7S. Will correct if there are any issues--Tkmedia 15:25, 9 November 2011 (PST)
