Ninth Symphony

Its sometimes amusing to read all the European names given by Japanese camera makers to their works. But maybe "Freude" had been derived from classical music, a European cultural achievement that the Japanese estimate even higher than European technology. "Freude schöner Götterfunken" is the song of joy in Ludwig van Beethovens 9th Symphony, the text from Friedrich Schiller. Added by U. Kulick on March 11, 2007.

Thanks for the suggestion, I added a mention in the article. This gave me the occasion to fix my huge German mistake: I was convinced that "Freude" was the plural of a word meaning "friend" but I checked in a dictionary and learned that "friend" is "Freund" and Freude means "joy"! You can see why I'm working so little on the pages about German cameras: my German is so bad and I'm unable to understand the sources! --Rebollo fr 15:34, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
