The text:

"The crank-winding on the III and IIIa was an attempt of Meopta to match the Rolleiflex TLR's but due lack of knowledge they failed to make it reliable and meopta returned to the knob system (like the Rolleicord) when they released the flexaret IV. It's wise to find out if the crank mechanism still works when you purchase a Flexaret III(a) because repairs might be impossible."

was added by uncle goose. It seems rather harsh. Any sources to substantiate this? --driesvandenelzen 19:07, 27 July 2007 (EDT)

I just deleted {{McKeown}} suggests all early models up to model IV had a crank, but this is incorrect. from the article, because McKeown (12th Ed) clearly says the other thing. Am I missing something? McK also says that the Flexaret III has a frame counter, and I can't quite get my head round there being a frame counter, but not auto-stop on the winder (as the article says it doesn't). I don't have this camera, so can't check, but are we certain this wasn't written by someone whose auto-stop mech is broken?

I found this patent by Optikotechna: French Patent 890450 of 1944, Appareil photographique, describing a TLR with auto-stop winding and a frame counter, and thought it might be the design for the F III, but now I don't know. --Dustin McAmera 13:03, 9 June 2012 (PDT)
