What is the 'benchmark' in this article supposed to be? It reads at first as if this is going to be the widest relative aperture for each class, but then the text says that some lenses are faster. What kind of benchmark is that? I suggest that (i) 'benchmark' should be replaced by 'widest known rel. aperture', and (ii) the other columns in the top table should simply be deleted: what any of us thinks is quite fast simply isn't data, and doesn't need to be tabulated.

Anyhow, I have replaced the 'benchmark' item for 35 mm with a faster example I stumbled on at Westlicht; I don't know if it's the lens with the widest rel. aperture made for 35 mm use, or not. --Dustin McAmera (talk) 18:57, 17 September 2015 (CDT)

That wasn't the fastest; I found a 40mm f/0.33, albeit a publicity stunt by Carl Zeiss. I have added it to the table. Dustin McAmera (talk) 17:33, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
