Waist level?

I wonder why it is called a 'waist-level finder' in English while in French we say 'viseur de poitrine' (chest-level finder). I've just checked that it is possible to use a brilliant finder at both heights, chest and waist. What is truly impossible is to keep the finder too close from the eye: the image is deformed and blurred. --Rebollo fr 09:18, 3 July 2006 (EDT)
