The MVC-FD100 is another Sony digital camera in the Mavica series, using floppy disks for image storage, or now optionally using a Memory Stick slot. This camera features a 1.2 mega pixel 1/2.7" sensor for images up to 1280 x 960 pixels. As with its predecessor the FD87, its lens is a modest 3x range 6.4–19.2mm f/3.8–3.9 (41–123mm 35mm equivalent) zoom, having a 37mm filter thread. A 2.5-inch color LCD is also provided. It is powered by a InfoLITHIUM NP-F330 rechargeable battery pack.

The Mavica FD100 was introduced in 2002 alongside the FD200, similar but offering a higher 1600×1200 image resolution. These were the final floppy-disk Mavicas in the series begun in 1997 with the Mavica FD5 and FD7.
