The L-248 Multi-Lumi is a shutter priority hand held exposure meter by Sekonic.

The Multi-Lumi features a traditional calculator dial on top of the face as well as a needle with a EV light scale on the lower portion. It has the ability to measure reflected and incident light using a CdS sensor cell for it's measuring element. A sliding cover for the cell switches it from uncovered for reflective mode to covered for incident mode. There are two ranges a high and a low. The ranges can be switched via a slider at upper left of the calculator dial. Doing so changes the light scale window from the low setting of 2 to 10 EV; to the high setting of 10 to 18 EV. The meter is powered by a single 625 PX13 1.3v mercury battery.

Using the meter is very simple. Determine if reflective or incident measurement is preferred, and slide cover as desired. Set the ASA or DIN film speed. Aim the meter and press the measurement button on the side of the meter. If the needle indicator does not move into the scale area switch to a different range. Rotate the calculator until the yellow marker is on the same value as the bottom needle. The proper exposure with corresponding shutter speeds and aperture openings is shown on the calculator dial window. Transfer the desired combination to the camera.
