The Olympus SP-565 UltraZoom (UZ) is a handsome light super zoom bridge camera. Its fast "20x" zoom lens has been tested by Germany's official consumer protection organisation "Stiftung Warentest" in early 2009. The Stiftung found out that the lens was just a 17x zoom. And it found out that the camera makes good pictures in automatic mode. Some people like especially its macro capability. The camera can store images as common JPG files or as RAW files. But RAW-modes are only recommendable with the newer faster variant of the xD cards. The camera is delivered with an adapter for micro-SD-cards which are the fastest image storage option. The camera is nearly the same as the SP-570UZ, but while the latter has controls comparable to those of a small DSLR the SP-565UZ's controls are more like those of a modern digital compact camera. Thus this bridge camera is a bridge between the common DSLR-like bridge camera and the common contemporary compact camera.
