The Necono digital camera is a novelty digital camera marketed as a Powershovel/Superheadz product. The body of the camera is shaped like a cartoon cat,[1] and is based on ceramic kawaii animals by Swedish (but Japan-resident) designer Lisa Larson.[2] It is made in all-black, all-white and orange-and-white striped designs. It has a moderately wide-angle fixed-focus lens, equivalent to 38 mm in 35 mm format, which is in the cat's left eye, and a 3-megapixel sensor (2048x1536 pixels maximum image size). It will also take 640x480 pixel video. The camera has no viewfinder or display screen; an external monitor is available as an accessory, typically costing more than the camera itself. The camera uses micro SDHC memory cards, up to 16 GB. It has a built-in rechargeable battery.
The dimensions of the camera are approximately 10 cm x 3 cm x 3 cm. It will stand on a level surface (on the cat's feet), and there are also magnets set into the feet, allowing it to stand securely on ferrous-metal surfaces; one is shown standing on a fence rail, and on the side of a post box, on the maker's website.[3] It has a self-timer function, and can also be set to take photographs continuously at about one per second.
Notes
- ↑ Neko (猫) is the Japanese for cat.
