Faller
Eugène Faller was a camera maker in Paris from some time in the 19th century. McKeown lists a quarter-plate folding wet-plate camera from 1870, and a 13×18 cm tailboard camera from about 1900. A 24×24 cm studio camera was sold at auction in 2010; the auctioneer's details gave Faller's address (presumably from a maker's plate) as 6 & 8 Rue du Temple.[1] Another example seen at auction is stamped with the address Rue du Faubourg 42, in Montmartre.[2]
Several examples of le Forain (French: 'the fairground'; presumably intended for street photographers), a camera for small ferrotype plates, have been seen at auction.[3][4] As in many ferrotype cameras, the plates are held in a spring-loaded magazine, in this case on top of the camera body, and after exposure each is dropped into a developing tank mounted under the camera.
