The Fips is a simple camera for 13-mm square exposures on roll film, made by Knödler of Fürth, near Nuremberg, Germany.[1][2] It has an f/8 lens and a single-speed shutter (1/50 second). It has a tubular finder on the top; this has glass at the front and back, but it is not certain that these are lenses; the finder may be no more than a frame finder.

The body of the camera is moulded black plastic; the back detaches completely and is held on by two wire U-shaped clips, which engage with moulded lugs on the body and back (the clips are not permanently attached to either part). 'Fips' is moulded into the back, and 'Made in Western Germany' into the body, below the lens. There is a red window and a winding knob for film advance; this and the shutter button are of plated metal.
