FIAMMA S.A. (Fabbrica Italiana Apparecchi Macchine Materiali Accessori S.A.) was an Italian company making cameras and other photographic accessories.
History
FIAMMA S.A. was established in 1920 in Florence, Italy, by Antonio Bencini (later founder of the eponymous company) and other partners. The company produced and marketed several models of very well constructed studio and field cameras, some of them available in all the most common sizes of the times: 10×15, 13×18, 18×24, 21×27, 24×30 cm.
Over the years the factory grew continually, eventually employing about one hundred workers. In the early thirties, besides professional cameras, FIAMMA introduced in its catalog some simple and cheap box cameras. Between 1934 and 1935 Antonio Bencini left the company to move to Torino and to establish a new company called Filma.source needed Immediately after, FIAMMA was acquired by Ferrania. After this, only the production of some box cameras was continued by Ferrania, under its own brand name, in the premises formerly occupied by Cappelli in Milan.
