From 1930 onwards Eho-Altissa in Dresden produced a whole series of box cameras known as EHO box followed by a model number. These came in a whole range of sizes ranging from models for 127 film producing 3x4 cm or 4x6.5 cm negatives up to models designed to take 6.5x11 cm pictures on 116 film. However, most EHO boxes were made for 120 film and produced either 8 negatives of 6x9 cm or 16 negatives of 4.5x6 cm. Perhaps most remarkable was the EHO Stereo-Box which could produce either standard 6x6 cm pictures or 6x13 cm Stereopictures [1].

Specifications of camera shown

  • T and B shutter set by pulling the smaller lever on top
  • Three apertures set by pulling the larger lever on top
  • Eho Duplar-Objectiv F:11

The EHO box 152 was later (1931/32) based on the camera described here and showed both cosmetic and technical differences. The early model did not have a maker's name or model number and had the metal edges around the front of the camera lacquered black. Furthermore the film winding key was rod-shaped and the shutter release had a nickel surrounding plate. Later (proper 152) models had nickel edges around the front, a more ergonomic winding key and lacked the metal plate surrounding the shutter release. Besides that the Box 152 had an additional close-up lens as well as a cable release.
