The Chinon CP-X Program is a manual focus 35mm SLR from Chinon. It accepts K mount type lenses.

It has a electromagnetic focal plane shutter with speeds from 8s to 1/1000 in automatic exposure modes. Flash sync is at 1/100 a sec. The self-timer is electronic with a delay of approx 10 sec. with a flashing LED.

The CP-X features a center-weighted, full-aperture TTL metering system and has a range of 1 to 19 EV at (ASA 100), compatible with DX encoded film and can be set for film speeds from 25 to 3200 ASA for non-coded films.

The finder uses a split-image and micro prism collar to aid in focusing. It has LED lights on the left for P: Program mode, A: Aperture priority, M: Manual exposure, Up triangle: overexposure, OK: correct exposure, Down triangle: underexposure and bolt: flash ready indicator.

The film transport uses a manual film advance lever and a rewind crank. Motorized film advanced is available with an optional winder PW-600 or PW-610. Other optional accessories were also available including the DP-520 which could imprint 30 characters onto the film as well as the AD-510 date imprint back. The CP-X uses four 1.5v SR44 batteries fitted onto the hand grip area.
