The Digital IXUS 40 is a ultra compact digital camera announced in 2004 by Canon.

In North America it is known as the PowerShot SD300 Digital ELPH, and in Japan as Digital IXY 50.

It features a 4 megapixel 1/2.5" CCD sensor. This produces a maximum resolution of 2272 x 1704. The lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 35 – 105 mm. Aperture range of f/2.8 - f/4.9. The closest focus distance is 30cm, but in macro mode can be as close as 3cm. The shutter speed is from 15 to 1/1500. The camera back features a 118,000 pixel 2" LCD screen and still has a optical viewfinder.Data is stored in Secure Digital card. Power is with rechargeable NB-4L battery.
