Carl Zeiss of Germany are among the most renowned of lens manufacturers. They originated the Zeiss Ikon and Contax brand names; created such classic lens formulae as the Tessar, Planar, Biogan, and Sonnar; and made the dedicated lenses for other camera marques, including Rollei and Hasselblad.
