Warszawskie Zakłady Fotooptyczne (WZFO) was a maker of cameras and other photographic equipment in the Polish capital Warszawa. The company was founded by the state in 1951. The first camera (a Start I) was assembled on 28 December 1953 in the newly build Warszawskie Zakłady Kinotechniczne Plant (was as well the first camera fabricated in Poland after WW2). In 1968 it was merged with the older photo-optical company PZO, the merging had the consequence of suspending all development researches for new designs of cameras.

Some of its products were exported abroad (at least in France[1] and UK[2]) by a company called PTHZ Varimex. Among the products exported were: Ami[3], Start B, Fenix Ib, Fenix IIb, Alfa 2, Krokus and Janpol Color.
