Vivitar XC-3

The Vivitar XC-3 is an M42 mount, 35mm SLR, marketed by Vivitar and manufactured by Cosina. It is based on the Cosina CSM. The camera provides TTL center-weighted metering with an LED display that indicates over and under exposure conditions. A half-press on the shutter release stops down the lens for metering. The camera's electronics are turned off when the shutter release collar is turned to the locked "L" position. An electronic self-timer provides a 10 second delay with a blinking countdown LED (a feature missing from the otherwise similar Vivitar XC-4). The electronically timed shutter requires power from two 1.5v silver-oxide batteries, without which only the mechanical "M" speed of 1/50 will function.

The camera can be converted to aperture-preferred automatic exposure with the addition of the Vivitar XC-A, an external motorized gadget that attaches to the top of the camera and physically turns the shutter speed knob.
