Vologodskiy Optiko-Mekhanicheskiy Zavod (VOMZ) is an optical company in Russia. It was set up in 1971,[1] at first making simple parts for use elsewhere. The plant developed to make products including compasses and parts for binoculars. Between 1977 and '86 VOMZ was made part of LOMO. It made several camera lenses for KMZ (see M42 lenses by KMZ). The plant is now part of Shvabe, as are most facilities of the former-Soviet optical industry, and makes thermal-imaging equipment.
