Welcome to Camera-Wiki.org!

Thanks for creating an account here on Camera-Wiki.org! We appreciate your willingness to help us create the most comprehensive camera and photography encyclopedia on the web. Camera-Wiki.org is a big website, so we'd like to offer a few quick pointers to help get you started.

You also have a profile page that you can edit to tell us more about yourself if you'd like. It's purely optional but it's always nice to get to know another camera lover.

This website uses software called Mediawiki that's also used by WikiPedia. If you already know how to use and edit WikiPedia, you'll feel right at home here. If not, we have special page where you can learn to edit, called the Sandbox. It's a place where you try things out and experiment with no worries of breaking anything.

A Human Welcome

Hello,

Thanks for joining us and already editing your user page !
Camera-Wiki is always on the look-out for editors who will share their knowledge !

If you have any questions about editing you can always contact one of the Administrators for help.

These administrators regularly watch the Recent Changes Page so it is always a good idea to give a short description about your edit in the Summary field just underneath the Edit field. Any text you give there is visible on that Recent Changes page.

And sure, we would love to have a page about the Hanimex Snap Shooter. Feel free to add that.

Best Regards and Happy Editing,

Editing Link URL's

Hello there,

Just edited the Link you gave to an external page on No. 2C Autographic Kodak Special.

Now the Link is easier accessible and also gives a second Link to point to the source.

Hope this helps you with further edits !

Giving a Thank you is very good practice if Image is not in Camera-Wiki Pool

Hello there,

Just did some editing on this page : http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Vivitar_ECO35H

And observed that a Flickr image was used which is not in our Flickr Camera-Wiki pool. That image has the "Non-Commercial" rights so it is Ok to add to a Camera-Wiki page.

It is good practice (and good link back info) to let the author know were his/her image was used. I myself do this by a comment at that image with this text :

On behalf of Camera-Wiki :
Thanks for publishing your image !

It appears here in the non-commercial Camera-Wiki :
http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Vivitar_ECO35H

Not much work and this spreads much needed link-backs to the Camera-Wiki :-)
