Welcome, Ed! It's Ross here. Fun to see your name pop up here, and I'm hugely grateful to have a wiki-savvy person come help out. I appreciate you rolling up your sleeves and diving into some housekeeping. As you can probably tell, there are quite a few loose ends, blank spots, and inconsistencies in this wiki... I have to confess I pretty much knew zero about all this a month ago, and got thrown into the deep end by circumstances. Let me know if you'd like me to make introductions or (if I can) explain how things have worked in the past... --Vox 21:33, 27 February 2011 (PST)

Thanks Ross. I'm trying to do minimalist tidying; it's a nice way to get the lay of the land. At some point I'd love to sit down and talk to you about this project for a story for (I have done "Wiki Wednesday" columns every once in a while). The other thing to put in your mind is that Arborwiki is hosted at the Ann Arbor District Library, and you might ping Eli to see if he would be interested in doing hosting for you all. By the way... We haven't been 100% consistent with this... but when you're adding wiki links to another camera page, the convention has been for the page to include the manufacturer name. There are too many cameras where the model is just unrecognizable letters & numbers. So if we title a page Pentax MZ-5/ZX-5, to be consistent it should also be Pentax Spotmatic—even if "Spotmatic" might be a unique page name. --Vox 00:04, 28 February 2011 (PST)

I submit an accepted request and add the photo you say you want in the Annie Leibovitz article.-Tkmedia 18:37, 12 September 2011 (PDT)

GEH linking

Hey Ed, for external links, the format I always try to encourage is [ A particular page] at [ the Site's Name].

The reason is twofold. First we want to be respectful to the provider of the info, and let them greet the visitor with whatever homepage they prefer. Second, before someone clicks the link we should give some idea which site they're going to, whether it's a name they already know & trust, etc.

So in the case of the GEH, even if we do have our own wiki article, we should probably structure links as follows: Andreas Feininger at the website of the George Eastman House. Cheers, --Vox 12:52, 19 September 2011 (PDT)

Thanks, that makes sense and it's a good style. (I was trying to balance the "hey this is a great collection" vs. specific detail for any one item). Edward Vielmetti 08:58, 20 September 2011 (PDT)
