I would welcome edits from anyone who has more information about the 44LM, or the "Auto 44." I can find no information about the Auto 44, aside from its listing in McKeown's. I suspect it may be a name variant of the 44 or 44LM sold in a particular market.-- Voxphoto 21:17, 29 October 2007 (EDT)

Sugiyama references this in his book, The Collector's Guide to Japanese Cameras, as # 2305 and attributes a photo of the camera to Yashica. It is the only photo of this model that I have ever seen. It appears to be similar to the Yashica 44LM, but with crank film advance in place of the knob, and with black enamel and leatherette. The cover over the meter cell is slightly different than the 44LM, and the meter housing has "Auto 44" (Written with "Auto" on the top, a line and "44" on the bottom) in place of "LM". He lists a date of 1959, and rarity of two stars and value of two stars. I have to believe that this was never produced and was a photo of a prototype that was sent to Sugiyama. --Wdance 18:37, 1 November 2007 (EDT)
