More about the point of registering?

I wonder if we should add half a sentence, making it clear that people only need to register if they want to edit. Maybe "You don't need to register to read the articles in Camera-wiki.org, but if you would like to add or correct any information on this site, sign up for a user account (this is simple and free), log in, and click any "edit" link". Sugggestions

Hello ! The main page is quite sad ! Could there be a random camera article on the main page ?

I kind of agree that the Main Page isn't very exciting, nor is it very 'useful' in that it's not obvious how to get from there to a particular camera. The Search box is small, and tucked away in the top right corner. I've never found the alphabetical index a great navigational tool either. There is a 'Random page' link in the side-bar; are you suggesting we have the whole article displayed in a box on the Main Page? I don't know how to do that myself, but I dare say it's possible. Some of them might need to be curtailed, with a 'Click here to read the whole article' link.

We had a plan, once, to change the featured articles more often; I see that Uwe changed them recently; I have to say I don't like the inclusion of the Camera Template as a featured article, but at least the front page changed. Again, I don't know how to achieve it, but maybe the featured articles could be selected programmatically from the ones that have changed most recently. --Dustin McAmera (talk) 07:11, 11 November 2013 (PST)

Under "Navigation", how about, instead of "A-Z Index" and "List of Companies", use "Company Index" and "Camera Index". I also think it would be a good idea to provide a link to the Glossary. TCav (talk) 04:52, 2 February 2016 (CST)

Supporting Camera-wiki.org

We now have a Camera-wiki blog, presenting news about the site and our future plans, and highlighting some interesting tidbits about the wiki. But we'd also ask you to consider going to the donations page if you like what we're doing here. For security reasons, this is hosted separately from the wiki itself (where anyone can edit a page).

Logo Suggestions

The current "pirate forks" logo was a whimsical impulse from one of the site admins. But are you a graphic artist? Would you care to contribute something better? We'd love that. Please leave a note here linking to your idea.

Extra documentation

I have 2, an early basic model with the "waistfinder" and one with an uncoupled rangefinder. I have also got copies of some first hand documentation: A print out of the manuals and a letter from one of the later AGI employees to a person that requested information. The letter dates to the 1970s or so. There isn't much extra info, but if somebody is interested I can scan them in.

Mamiya Six w/Zeiss Tessar Lens

Hello, My name is Igor, and collecting old photo gear is one of my passions. I just came across a Mamiya 6 (No. 13927) with a Zeiss Jena Tessar (441526) mounted in a NKS-TOKYO shutter 1-1/200, B. All seems to work as intended, however, would like to know if there are other Mamiya 6 cameras with this lens, and how many may have been produced with this lens and shutter combo. It does not look like an add on. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Polaroid Highlander-80-A mode l(circa 1957)

Does anybody know what type of film this camera will take. It is a treasure and it is in flawless condition, still in it's original leather case. I am told by "The Impossible Project" that 600 film would not work. Any ideas, please?

Oko-Six Camera

I got this a while ago, and never thought much of it. I recently decided to look it up and found no information other than here, where it says there are no other cameras of this model. How much would this be worth? its in excellent condition, and the leather case is in good condition. Hope to have a reply soon, thanks!

Fine-Tuning Feb 2014

I did adjust several parameters to resize the main page slightly so that it fits a standard Monitor with a well readable font-size - a status that I missed for a while since I actually returned to an older Monitor with 1280×1024 pixels. I expect that all your screens are wider, but take care not to overload pages. The better a page fits into such an old standard Monitor size the better the page design will be appreciated by a lot of our fans. Think of pragmatic people who never buy a larger screen until the old one dies (typical in USA), or poor people. U. Kulick (talk) 14:34, 13 February 2014 (PST)
