Really first?

Was 2-curtain type really first used at all by Leica? How did earlier cloth shutters work?

Early focal plane shutters had one curtain with several different size slits. Speeds were a combination of slit size used and tension setting. I have a Thornton-Pickard Focal Plane from 1904, Graflex and several German makers used the same method. The distinction is the term two curtain, where the two curtains can be set to different slit widths, Leica were first with that method. Geoff H (talk) 01:02, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
