Susse Frères means brothers Susse. They built a few of the first marketed photo cameras, cameras of the type designed by Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre, maybe the first photo cameras in black, thus being extremely high evaluated collectors's items. An auction of one of these cameras in 2007 brought a record amount of 576,000.- euros. Originally the black Susse version was the cheaper camera.

The brothers were also editors of a book by Daguerre, entitled "Historique et description des procédés du daguerréotype et du diorama", published in 1839.
