When the Sony Mavica cameras arrived on the market the traditional Personal Computer technology with 3.5" diskettes as storage medium had reached the peak of its popularity. The Mavicas were like floppy disk drives with additional photo optics. An astounding 10x zoom lens and the built-in flash made it a full-featured compact camera. With these cameras Sony was a pioneer of modern popular digital photography.
