The MVC-FD51 is a digital camera introduced in 1998 in the Mavica series from Sony. As with earlier Mavica models, a standard computer floppy disk is used for storage. The sensor resolution is just 640×480 pixels, 0.3 megapixels. Using the "fine" compression setting, a standard 1.4 MB floppy will hold at most 20 images.

As with the original Mavica FD5 the camera offers a fixed focus, non-zoom 4.8 mm f/2.0, giving a 35mm equivalent of 47 mm. A "macro" slider permits focus within a range of about 3–9" (8–25 cm).
