Silberra was originally founded in Russia by Vladimir Vishnevsky and Konstantin Shabanov. Vishnevsky is a professional photographer and ran a photography school in Saint-Petersburg. FotoApteka was a online forum in 2006, but it changed into a online photography shop that they both partnered. In 2009, they started making photo chemicals as they lacked many necessary supplies. In 2012 their chemical manufacture partners decided to cease, so they decided to take over the equipment and manufacture the chemicals themselves. Film manufacturing started in 2017 when they adopted the Silberra name.
