The RZ-728, introduced in the late 1990s by Ricoh, was a compact Zoom lensed camera, marketed as a pocketable travel companion thanks to its wide-angle range.

An auto-date version was available.

  • Type: 35mm film lens-shutter compact camera with automatic exposure and an autofocus zoom lens.
  • Lens: Ricoh 28-70mm zoom. Max. aperture f/5.6-10. Five elements in four groups.
  • Active Auto-focus from 0.9m to infinity. (A "macro" button must be pressed for close focus).
  • Shutter speed range: 1-1/250s.
  • Film speed: ISO 100/400 via DX Encoding.
  • Finder: Auto-zooming "real image" (80% or more of frame) with framelines, parallax reminders, LED warning.
  • LCD shows frame number, battery power remaining, and icons for several modes: auto, red-eye reduction, self-timer, forced flash, slow-synch night flash, disabled flash, infinity focus, macro.
  • Integrated flash: Automatic system for correct power. Operating range at 28mm focal length is 0.9-2.5m at ISO 100. 1.2-1.4m at 70mm. Six second recharge.
  • Film advance: Auto-load, wind and rewind. Mid-roll rewind also available.
  • Power: One CR2 battery.
  • Dimensions: 117×63.5×42mm.
  • Weight: 205g (without battery).
