Rencay was founded in Ohlstadt by the founder of scanback maker Anagramm soon after he left his first company in 2011. Rencay created a new series of scanbacks, whilst Anagram ceased production.

The scanbacks are for 4x5" cameras, for example those made by Sinar, Linhof, Cambo, Horseman and Plaubel.
