The lenses use a bayonet mount almost unique to King, the [[Braun Paxette]] rangefinder uses an almost identical mount but if you try to use Paxette lenses on a Regula, or Regula lenses on a Paxette will result in the lens being stuck to the body and very difficult to remove without damaging the lens or camera.

Regula Super

The Regula Super is a 35mm rangefinder camera with built-in uncoupled light meter and interchangeable lenses, built by King for their Regula range from 1959.

The viewfinder has bright lines for 50, 90 and 135mm lenses, selectable by a switch on the top plate, 50mm lines are always visible. The lenses use a bayonet mount almost unique to King, the Braun Paxette rangefinder uses an almost identical mount but if you try to use Paxette lenses on a Regula, or Regula lenses on a Paxette will result in the lens being stuck to the body and very difficult to remove without damaging the lens or camera.

The aperture and speed rings are on the body around the mount, the aperture ring has a coupling to link it to the aperture blades on the lens. The match-needle Bewi meter produces an Exposure Value, which can be set on the aperture ring, which is then coupled to the shutter ring. The shutter is a Prontor-SVS with a range of 1 second to 1/300th and 1/500th on later models. The camera has an accessory shoe and a PC sync port on the front of the body, with X/M flash sync selected by a switch behind the shutter ring, this also selects the self-timer (V).

Regula Super Automatic

A Regula Super but with coupled light meter and a Prontor-SLK shutter.

  • Steinheil Regula-Quinon 50mm f/1.9
  • Isco Color-Westanar 90mm f/3.5
