Construction
The Regula L is a 35mm viewfinder camera built in Germany by King for their Regula range, from 1958[1]. Unlike the later Regulette, this has a metal chassis rather than plastic. Film advance is by black-coloured lever, rewind by a thin knob fitted with a film reminder. The back hinges open, held closed by simply clipping over the end of the camera.
Functionality
The camera is similar to most Regulas, shutters speeds in the 1/30th-1/250th range with a bulb setting, apertures f/2.8-16, focus is done with a black ring on the front and the DOF ring scale just behind to determine the focal range for the selected f-stop. One nice feature on this model is the front mounted shutter release, it's very smooth and makes holding the camera steady to take pictures much easier; it also makes advancing the film lever easier since you don't have to move your index finger out of the way to do it. The camera shoe has two known variations, open ended and closed one piece molded to the camera; flash/bulb sync is done with a PC connector on the bottom right of the lens/shutter housing. On the top of the shutter is a 10 second self timer lever.
